Agile Finland 2013: Reaching the Larger Community

This week we hard the first meeting with the new Agile Finland executive committee. We spoke a lot about our mission for this year. It was nice to have Maaret, the primes motor of the Finnish testing community, as well as Juha, the anarchistic nonconformist from Jyväskylä with us to further our perspectives.

We talked a lot about connecting people in the software communities and the industry. We came to the conclusion that although we have made some progress on that in previous years, that will really be our focus for this year.

Being active and in discussion with the other communities enables us to share our way of thinking about IT and SW product / service development in the industry in a more effective way. That is the purpose of Agile Finland, so we are definitely moving in the right direction with this focus.

We identified five or six segments of interests in the sw community: leadership, business, software craftsmanship, DevOps, UX and testing. This model of segments may not be complete for me it is a sufficient starting point for coordinating our mission.

Our next step is to start identifying partner communities and start planning activities with them together. That way we can reach some people with different kind of ideas and share our own ways of seeing the world and the industry, too.

We need help in this mission, though. We are only five people in the Agile Finland executive committee. We need the help of Agile Finland members to connect our community to other communities in the software / IT industry. If you have some connections to other communities in the IT world in Finland, you can just contact them and start the conversation of what should we do together.

Please help us by suggesting communities and/or people to connect to in the comments!
